We may also enhance your shopping experience by allowing Shopify to link your account to other Shopify services you choose to use. In this case, Shopify will process your information as set out in its Privacy Policy and Consumer Privacy Policy.

We may use your personal information for promotional and marketing purposes, such as sending you promotional, advertising, and marketing communications by email, text message, or post, and showing you advertisements for products or services. Please note that we may transfer, store, and process your personal information outside of the country in which you live. Your personal information will also be processed by third-party personnel, service providers, and partners in those countries.
If we transfer your personal information outside of Europe, we will use recognized transfer mechanisms, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or any equivalent contract issued by the competent UK authority, as appropriate, unless the data transfer is to countries that provide an adequate level of protection.
DATA SHARED WITH META
We share data with META. Below are Meta's terms and conditions for businesses.
We may receive Business Tool Data related to advertising, search and matching, measurement, and analytics if you use Meta advertising products. These products include, but are not limited to, the Meta Pixel, the Conversions API (formerly known as the Server API), the Facebook SDK for App Events, Offline Conversions, and the App Events API. We also receive Business Tool Data in the form of impression data sent by Facebook Social Plugins (such as the Like and Share buttons) and Facebook Login, as well as data from certain APIs, such as Messenger client matches via the Send API. Meta may also occasionally offer pilot, test, alpha, or beta programs through which you may provide Business Tool Data. The uses of Business Tool Data are described below.
Sharing Business Tools Data with Meta: You can use Facebook Business Tools to send us one or both of the following types of personal information (“ Business Tools Data ”) for the purposes described in section 2: “ Contact Information ”: This is data that identifies individuals, such as names, email addresses, and phone numbers, which we use solely for search and matching purposes. Any such information you send us for this purpose via a Meta JavaScript pixel will be hashed before transmission. If you use a Meta Image Pixel or other Meta Business Tools, you or your service provider must hash the Contact Information as we specify before transmission. “ Event Data ”: Additional information you share about people and the actions they take on your websites, apps, or stores, such as visiting your websites, installing your apps, and purchasing your products. Although Event Data includes information collected and transferred when people access a website or application through the Log in with Facebook or the Social plugins (for example, the “Like” button), do not include information created when a person interacts with our platform through Facebook Login, social plugins, or in any other way (for example, when logging in, liking an article or song, or sharing them). Information created when someone interacts with our platform through Facebook Login, social plugins, or in any other way is subject to the Platform Terms . Note: For the purposes of these Business Tools Terms, references to “Customer Data” in existing terms or agreements now mean “Business Tools Data.” Pursuant to section 1.d, we will not share the Business Tools Data you provide to us with third parties (including advertisers) unless you tell us we are authorized to do so or we are required to do so by law. We will implement processes and procedures to protect the confidentiality and security of Business Tools Data, including, but not limited to, implementing appropriate organizational, technical, and physical security measures designed to (a) protect the security and integrity of Business Tools Data while on our systems and (b) prevent accidental or unauthorized access to, use, modification, or disclosure of Business Tools Data on our systems. These processes and procedures include the measures set out in the Data security conditions Meta's terms and conditions (as updated from time to time, for example, to reflect technological advancements) are expressly incorporated into these Business Tools Terms. Upon request, you agree that Meta may provide you with access to your Event Data or a copy thereof. You represent and warrant that you (and any data provider you use) have all necessary rights, permissions, and legal grounds (in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards) to disclose and use the Business Tools Data. You will promptly notify us in writing of any actual or potential claims or disputes relating to your use of the Business Tools Data under these Terms. You will also cooperate with us in responding to any such claims or disputes. If you use or share Business Tools Data on behalf of or in conjunction with a third party, you also represent and warrant that, as the third party's representative, you are authorized to use, share, and process that data on their behalf and to bind that third party to these Business Tools Terms. You will only use or share Business Tools Data, or any audience or report generated through the use of that data, on behalf of or in conjunction with that third party. You further represent and warrant that you will not share with us Business Tools Data that you know (or reasonably should know) pertains to or relates to individuals under the age of 14. You also agree not to share information that includes health, financial, or other sensitive information (including information that is considered sensitive under applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards).
Use of Business Tool Data We may use Business Tool Data for the following purposes: Contact Information for Search and Matching You instruct us to process your Contact Information only to match user identifiers (“ Matching User Identifiers ”) and to link these identifiers to the corresponding Event Data. We will delete your Contact Information after the matching process is complete. Event Data for Measurement and Analytics Services You may instruct us to process Event Data to provide measurement and analytics products and services, including (a) generating reports on your behalf about the impact of your advertising campaigns and other online content, including attributing conversions to impressions displayed through our platform (“ Campaign Reports ”) and (b) generating analytics and insights about people and their use of your apps, websites, products, and services (“ Analytics ”). We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Campaign Reports and Analytics solely for internal business purposes and only in an anonymous and aggregated form for measurement-related purposes. You will not disclose the Campaign Reports or Analytics (or any part thereof) to third parties without our written consent. We will not disclose Campaign Reports or Analytics (or any part thereof) to third parties without your permission, except (i) they have been integrated with Campaign Reports and Analytics from a large number of third parties and (ii) your personally identifiable information has been removed from those integrated documents. Event Data to Target Your Ads: You can provide Event Data to target advertising campaigns to people who interact with your business. You can ask us to create custom audiences, which are groups of users of Meta Products based on Event Data, to segment advertising campaigns. These audiences include Website Custom Audiences, Mobile App Custom Audiences, and Offline Custom Audiences. Meta will process Event Data to create these audiences for you. You may not sell or transfer these audiences, or authorize any third party to sell or transfer them. Meta will not provide these audiences to other advertisers unless you or your service providers share audiences with other advertisers through tools we provide for that purpose, in which case it will be subject to the restrictions and requirements of those tools and our terms. These Business Tools Terms apply to the use of Website Custom Audiences, Mobile App Custom Audiences, and Offline Custom Audiences created through Meta Business Tools. Custom Audiences from a customer list provided through our standalone Custom Audiences feature are subject to the Custom audience settings based on a customer list . Event data for sending marketing and transactional messages. We may use matching User IDs and associated Event Data to help you reach people with marketing and transactional messages on Messenger and other platforms. Meta Products . Event data to improve ad delivery, personalize features and content, and enhance, provide, and protect Meta Products. Regarding ad targeting and delivery, (i) we will use your Event Data for delivery only after combining it with data obtained from other advertisers or information collected from Meta Products, and (ii) we will not allow other advertisers or third parties to target advertising based solely on your Event Data. We may correlate Event Data with Meta Product users to support your advertising campaign goals, improve ad delivery effectiveness, and determine ad relevance for your recipients. We may use Event Data to personalize the features and content (including ads and recommendations) we show to people on and off Meta Products. Additionally, to enhance the experience for people using Meta Products, we may use Event Data to promote safety and security on and off Meta Products, for research and development purposes, and to maintain the integrity of, provide, and improve those Products.
Special provisions relating to the use of certain Business Tools This section applies to your use of Business Tools to enable Meta to store and access cookies or other information on an end-user device. You and partners acting on your behalf are not permitted to place pixels associated with your Business Manager or advertising account on websites that you do not own without our written consent. You represent and warrant that you have provided users with a clear and sufficiently conspicuous notice regarding the collection, disclosure, and use of Business Tools Data, and that this notice meets at least the following requirements: For websites, the notice is clearly and conspicuous on each web page where our pixels are used and directs to a clear explanation stating (a) that third parties, including Meta, may use cookies, web beacons, and similar storage technologies to collect or receive information from your websites and other locations on the internet and use that information to provide measurement services, target audiences, and deliver ads; (b) how users can opt out of the collection and use of information for ad targeting; and (c) where users can access a mechanism that allows them to exercise this right (for example, through links to http://www.aboutads.info/choices and (http://www.youronlinechoices.eu/ ). Regarding apps, a clear and visible link is provided that is easily accessible from your app settings or any privacy policy, as well as from all stores and websites where your app is distributed, and which directs to a clear explanation stating (a) that there may be third parties, including Meta, that collect or receive information from your app and other apps, and use such information to provide measurement services, target and deliver ads, and (b) how and where users can opt out of the collection and use of information for ad targeting. In jurisdictions where informed consent is required for the storage of and access to cookies or other information on the end user's device (such as the European Union), you must verifiably ensure that the end user provides all necessary consents before you use Meta Business Tools to allow the storage of and access to Meta cookies or other information on the user's device. Modification, Termination, and Retention. We may modify, suspend, or terminate your access to Meta Business Tools at any time, as well as discontinue their availability. You may also stop using Meta Business Tools at any time. Under these Terms, we may retain Event Data for up to two years. We may retain any audiences you have created using this Data until you delete them using the tools in your account. These Business Tools Terms do not supersede any of the terms applicable to your purchase of advertising inventory from us (including, but not limited to, the Self-service advertising conditions and the Meta's advertising policies ), so your advertising campaigns will continue to be subject to those conditions. Conditions for custom audiences based on a customer list Meta's terms will not apply to audiences created through the processing of Business Tools Data subject to these terms. We reserve the right to monitor or audit your compliance with these Business Tools Terms. These Business Tools Terms supplement and amend the Commercial Terms of Service . Meta may update these Business Tools Terms from time to time. If, after any update, you access or continue to use the Business Tools, you will be deemed to have accepted the updated terms. Nothing in these Terms will prevent us from providing information to our users regarding Meta Business Tools if advised to do so, if we deem it necessary, or if required by applicable law. In the event of an obvious conflict between these Meta Business Tools Terms and the Commercial Terms, the former will prevail only with respect to your use of Meta Business Tools and only with respect to that conflict.
Other conditions for the processing of GDPR Personal Information . To the extent that the Business Tools Data contains Personal Information that you process in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) (the “GDPR”), the following conditions apply: The parties acknowledge and agree that you are the Data Controller with respect to the processing of Personal Information contained in the Business Tools Data for the purpose of providing the search and matching, measurement, and analytics services described above in sections 2.ai and 2.a.ii (for example, to provide you with Campaign Analytics and Reports), and that you are requesting Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, Block J, Serpentine Avenue, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Meta Ireland”) to process such Personal Information for that purpose and on your behalf, as your Data Processor, in accordance with these Meta Business Tools Terms and Conditions. Data processing conditions from Meta. The Data processing conditions These terms are expressly incorporated by reference into these Business Tools Terms and apply between you and Meta Ireland in conjunction with these Business Tools Terms. Regarding Personal Information contained in Event Data and related to actions taken by individuals on your websites and applications that integrate Meta Business Tools, and for whose processing you and Meta Ireland jointly establish the means and purposes in accordance with the GDPR, you and Meta Ireland acknowledge and agree that you are joint controllers pursuant to Article 26 of the GDPR. This joint controllership covers the collection of such Personal Information through Meta Business Tools and its subsequent transmission to Meta Ireland for the purposes set out above in sections 2.a.iii to 2.av1 (“Joint Processing”). Joint processing under joint responsibility is subject to Appendix for Data Controllers , which is expressly incorporated herein by this reference, and applies between you and Meta Ireland together with these Business Tools Terms. Meta Ireland remains an independent Data Controller pursuant to Article 4(7) of the GDPR with respect to the processing of such data that takes place after it is transmitted to Meta Ireland. You and Meta Ireland remain, as applicable in each case, independent Data Controllers pursuant to Article 4(7) of the GDPR with respect to the processing of Personal Information in Business Tools Data where the Information is subject to the GDPR, but not to paragraphs 5.ai and 5.a.ii. Section 5.ai also applies if you are in Andorra, the Azores, the areas of the UK sovereign bases in Cyprus (Acrotiri and Dhekelia), Vatican City, Guadeloupe, French Guiana, the Isle of Man, the Canary Islands, the Channel Islands, Madeira, Martinique, Mayotte, Monaco, Réunion Island, Saint Barthélemy, San Marino, Saint Maarten, and Switzerland. UK GDPR . To the extent that the Business Tools Data contains Personal Information that you process pursuant to the UK GDPR (as defined in the UK Data Protection Act 2018), the following conditions apply: The parties acknowledge and agree that you are the Data Controller with respect to the processing of Personal Information contained in the Business Tools Data for the purpose of providing the search and matching, measurement, and analytics services described above in sections 2.ai and 2.a.ii (for example, to provide you with Campaign Analytics and Reports), and that you are requesting Meta Platforms, Inc., 1601 Willow Road, Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA, to process such Personal Information for that purpose and on your behalf, as your Data Processor, in accordance with these Meta Business Tools Terms and Conditions. Data processing conditions from Meta. The Data processing conditions The terms and conditions apply between you and Meta Platforms, Inc. Regarding Personal Information contained in Event Data and related to actions taken by individuals on your websites and applications that integrate Meta Business Tools, and for whose processing you and Meta Platforms, Inc. jointly establish the means and purposes in accordance with the UK GDPR, you and Meta Platforms, Inc. acknowledge and agree that you are joint controllers pursuant to Section 26 of the UK GDPR. This joint controllership covers the collection of such Personal Information through Meta Business Tools and its subsequent transmission to Meta Platforms, Inc. for use in the purposes set out above in sections 2.a.iii to 2.av1 ( “Joint Processing in UK Joint Controllership” ). Joint processing under joint responsibility for the United Kingdom is subject to Appendix for UK Data Controllers , which is expressly incorporated herein by reference and applies between you and Meta Platforms, Inc. Meta Platforms, Inc. remains a separate Data Controller with respect to any Data Processing that takes place after the data is transmitted to Meta Platforms, Inc. You and Meta Platforms, Inc. remain, as applicable, separate Data Controllers with respect to the Processing of Personal Information in Business Tool Data where the Information is subject to the UK GDPR, but not to sections 5.ci and 5.c.ii. Appendix on UK data transfer This applies to any transfer of Personal Data to Meta Platforms, Inc. pursuant to this section 5.c. For the avoidance of confusion, this section 5.c shall prevail over sections 5.a and 5.b where the Personal Information relates to persons residing in the United Kingdom. In all other cases, sections 5.a and 5.b shall prevail (as applicable). To the extent that the Business Tools Data contains Personal Information that you process and that is not subject to the GDPR or the UK GDPR, and you are not located in any of the territories listed in section 5.b, you acknowledge and agree that you are the Controller with respect to the Processing of such Personal Information for the purpose of providing the matching, measurement, and analytics services described above in sections 2.ai and 2.a.ii (for example, to provide campaign analytics and reports), and that you request Meta Platforms, Inc., 1601 Willow Road, Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA, to Process such Personal Information for that purpose and on your behalf as the Data Processor in accordance with these Business Tools Terms and Conditions. Data processing conditions from Meta. The Data processing conditions are expressly incorporated herein by this reference, and apply in conjunction with these Terms and Conditions for the business tools. The parties acknowledge and agree that the Specific conditions for each state US laws may apply to the provision and use of Meta's Business Tools and are incorporated into these Terms by reference. When the Limited Data Use indicator is activated, Meta will process Event Data as detailed in section 2.a.ii above, the US state-specific terms, or as otherwise required by applicable law. The terms “Personal Information,” “Data Controller,” “Data Processor,” and “Processing” are used in this section with the meanings set forth in the Conditions for data processing .
